Before you connect an agent, read the tool list.

An AI that can look up a project status is doing a different job from one that can edit records or send messages. The word “assistant” doesn't tell you which one you've connected.

Starter challenge: pick one workflow you'd like an agent to handle. Write down three columns: READ, WRITE, SEND. Which actions does the job actually need? Which would you want to review first?

Then look past the tool's name. What inputs can it accept? What account does it act as? And does “read only” describe real limits—or just a hint?

The full AI Anonymous guide walks through MCP Inspector, a tiny local demo server, and the tool metadata worth checking before an agent gets involved. No model or API key needed for the exercise.

We tested the local listing and a fictional status call. Inspecting a catalog isn't a safety certification. Inspector launches the demo server; review code before running unfamiliar software.
